Ground Zero

July 8/2009

‘My Kingdom for a day of rest.’

I stand, grief-stricken as the charred remains of my last bargaining chip smolder; the clear imprint of evil basking in darkness nearby.

One at a time, weapons of hope have all been destroyed, consumed by freakish flames which only gain more ground with every attack.

And so fire is fought with fire.

And so living and dead are engulfed in malice.

And so my bones are twisted and broken and eroding…

… as all that I love burns slowly.

… as I am losing ground.
